About Untold Stories

Untold Stories was born from grief, reconnection, and the belief that no one should have to navigate pregnancy or infant loss feeling isolated and alone. After experiencing their own losses, Laura and Megan reconnected and found in one another the kind of understanding that only comes from lived experience. What began as a renewed friendship became a shared vision: to create a safe place where women could find support, connection, resources, and compassion after pregnancy or infant loss, no matter how recent or how long ago that loss may have been.

As an organization created from the power of connection, Untold Stories stands with those who have experienced pregnancy and/or infant loss. Their mission is rooted in remembrance, community, and change: remembering the children who live in our hearts, finding solace in one another, lifting up the needs of the community, and joining together to make change. Serving Maryland women who have experienced pregnancy or infant loss in any capacity, Untold Stories exists to help bridge the gap between the moment of loss and the long road to healing.

That support takes many forms. Untold Stories provides care packages and meals for those who have recently experienced loss, as well as memorial packages for difficult dates and anniversaries. The organization sponsors facilitated group therapy around topics such as trying to conceive after loss and pregnancy after loss, offers an online support community, and helps connect women with “buddies” for peer support and understanding. Untold Stories also leads bereavement presentations in hospitals, schools, universities, and physician offices to bring awareness to what may be lacking in healthcare, procedures, and patient care from the perspective of those who have lived through loss themselves.

At its heart, Untold Stories is both deeply personal and deeply practical. New members are welcomed and offered a meal and connection to others with similar stories. Memorial packages are sent weekly by volunteers. Group therapy sessions are coordinated throughout the year with partner therapists. Educational presentations are organized many times a year, and major community events like Wave of Light and the Bereaved Mother’s Day Brunch create space for remembrance, support, and in-person connection. Quarterly fundraising events also help sustain the mission and expand the organization’s reach across Maryland.

Untold Stories has continued to grow because the need is real, and because connection changes lives. Members have formed lasting bonds through six-week therapy sessions and then met in person at community events. Families have received Untold Stories information before even leaving the hospital and found a lifeline in their darkest early days of grief. The organization has also used community feedback to help educate medical providers across the state, transforming lived experience into advocacy, awareness, and better care for others.

Untold Stories is more than a support organization. It is a bereavement community built on compassion, remembrance, and the determination to untangle the stigma surrounding pregnancy and infant loss. Through tangible support, facilitated programming, education, outreach, and community care, Untold Stories is working to ensure that no one has to search for answers, suffer in silence, or walk this journey alone.

Megan Guerra

Founder / Vice President

Megan is the co-founder of Untold Stories and, more importantly, a loss mom who was desperate to find a network of people who “just get it.” An active member in the community, she also owns My Gym Children’s Fitness Center, a children’s gymnastics and recreational facility in Timonium, and brings her knowledge of business, administrative, and back-end procedures to the organization. After frustration with the inadequacy of sympathy, resources, and general care from providers after her own miscarriages, Megan is dedicated to ensuring an immediate, comprehensive response to women post-loss.
